I tried to bake a Southern Banana tart/pie for my family the other day using the recipe from here :) Apparently the first southern banana pudding recipe was published in 1903 I think! Haha random, but anw my pie turned out pretty good I must say, thankfully hahaha xD Honestly I was a bit worried when the custard didn't seem to thicken up at first, but eventually it became creamier and had a good consistency. Oh and I didn't use the wafers like the recipe recommended. Instead I used original digestive biscuits that peeps usually use in cheesecakes :)
4 basic steps: bake the biscuit-tart, add fresh bananas, pour over warm custard and chill :)
I realised also that an overbaked banana tart would taste a little bitter :P
<3 banana chunks xD please rmr to refrigerate before serving or it won't be as easy to slice and won't taste as good!
Haha I also tried it with a bit of maple syrup. Nah, it didn't really work. Whipped cream or ice cream will prob do better xD
