What your buffet plate says about you! XD

I think a buffet plate can tell what a person's like seriously :)
For example, try matching us to our dessert plates below! (can click on pics to get better view)

1: BIG-eater/not very tidy ;)
2: Conscientious/buffetier
                                  3: Ambitious/adventurous
4: Small-eater/careful/doesn't like to be in the spotlight
5: Tai-tai/buffetier

ANSWER: (don't look till you've guessed!)

1-D, 2-B, 3-A, 4-C, 5-E

And now I can explain :)
2 (Me) - Obviously neatly organised desserts and you may have noticed that I managed to put the most number of items on one plate without mixing their flavours (hence the buffetier) :)
3 (Amanda) - Kinda large portions for everything hahaha she couldn't finish the cheesecake nor the chocolate cake btw xD
4 (Cass) - Few items, small portions, neatly but subtly arranged and separated from one another :)
5 (Wen Man) - can tell that the items were taken in a very relaxed and casual manner, placed slightly closer to one side of the plate so that it's easier to hold :)

As for 1 (Su Xian) - hahaha sorry this isn't very fair cos that was her second plate of dessert! xD HAHA

Wheee! So interesting right! hahaha next time think again before piling your plate with food! :D

Billiard Room @ Raffles Hotel :D

Whooo the five of us have always wanted to go for a buffet tgt, and we finally did! xD Hahaha in fact, to make up for our countless occasions of failed buffet plans, we SPLURGED. I think it was worth it :D the food was fantastic and service was excellent ( I think the waitresses practice the cup-cannot-be-less-than-half-full rule? AND this waiter was so nice and patient as to take 5 polaroid photos for us using 5 DIFFERENT CAMERAS!) It was surprisingly crowded on a weekday afternoon :O mainly working peeps! Hahaha but there's enough to go around of course xD Oh and the Bar and Billiard Room (there's really a bar and a room to play billiard!) is right opposite raffles city shopping mall btw, we went a big round 'round the entire hotel before finding :X Anw, they had a good selection of everything (fish, poultry, salad, bread...) except seafood, which wasn't the focus of the buffet I guess with so much great food around! Mm there were only tiger prawns and oysters, but both were super fresh and super yummy xD Haha oh why just talk when I've got pictures to prove it? :)

Love the Old English coffee house look xD

Hmm the ceiling's practically ballroomish

Orchids, so Singapore hahaha

Yay cutlery holder! So hygienic xD

Clockwise from left: some potato cake thing, ratatouille ish veg, gnocchi, chicken schnitzel, grilled salmon, POTATO GRATIN (a million thumbs up for this!), and braised duck I think :)

The salmon was freakin awesome, amanda and I helped ourselves to generous servings xD There's also snapper in some tomato stuff and super good grilled cod too (really soft and I could practically taste the river in my mouth! haha I would've said 'sea' but cod's freshwater fish AHHAH)
Oh and they have this really cool and special endives, ham and cheese roll cooked in a gratin manner (top left) which was really good too! btw, this is an endive (had to google after eating hahaha)

Cheers for the smoked duck salad and smoked salmon! You can taste the pepper on the duck, and what else can I say of the salmon here? :)

Loved the tuna and salmon-strudel ish thing xD The pita bread was really cool too, esp with sooo many sauces for you to choose from! (baba ganoush, beetroot, duck and some other names which I can't rmr...) The prawns are huge, fresh and super juicy mhmmmm~~~ one of my friends (Suzz) ate SIX :O Hahaha she and amanda even had a prawn shell peeling contest cos we banned peeling with fingers (so unglam) and they had to struggle with their cutlery xD Su Xian won cos she practically ripped the flesh out of the shell! Oh but they provided us with the lemon water thing to clean our hands after peeling prawns (no need for that now!:)) Btw if you're adventurous, you can try the tomato avocado thing in the glass in the photo above. It tastes like a strange health concoction :X

Pasta from the pasta station! xD They have a lot of ingredients and different pastas for you to choose from! Haha the chef laughed when I requested for REALLY LITTLE pasta cos I didn't want to get full from too much carbo! (he really gave me very little that's why he laughed :))

DESSERT! The chocolate mousse cake is SUPER CRAZY rich! They also have a chocolate tart which is a little bitter cos I bet it's 90% cocoa... Oo and the eclair's stuffing's raspberry cream, not chocolate, surprise!! (not a very good one for my friends and I though hahaha) Creme Brulee was super mini, but super amazingly good! xD

ICE CREAM :D 2 flavours only though; mango sorbet and vanilla :) you can dress your sundae yourself with several condiments :)

muahahaha it's TWG tea!

Wen Man: "Almost ALL her photos are of food!!!"
Me: "I like to take pictures of food whadddd"
WM: "I don't, cos FOOD CANNOT SMILE!"
hahaha yea, but food can make ppl smile! xD

wen man looks stuffed!:D

Oh this isn't just a random polaroid :) Look at the chairs we're sitting on! They're for our bags actually hahaha feels like alice in wonderland xD

Another cool thing abt this place is that the toilet's underground! You have to take the stairs down from what looked like a secret entrance wheeee :D Kk that's all for now!

Out Of The Pan :D

OFTP! It's located at the basement of Raffles City shopping mall, right beside the fountain xD I've never seen this place super packed, maybe it's because not everyone loves crepes (as much as I do!) and crepes aren't very filling I must say :X hahaha anw they have the coolest selection of crepes, from smoked salmon to margherita to peking duck to korean bbq pork! :O Of course apart from the savory flavours, they have sweet crepes and waffles as well which are absolutely delicious xD Price wise it's a little bit on the higher side, for abt 15 bucks for a crepe? The drinks are rather expensive though, like 4.50 for hot chocolate and 6 for their awesome Jammy Soda (where there's like special jam in soda water so you get a kinda Italian soda-ish drink). But the great thing is, there's always some mastercard/amex promotion at oftp! (1 for 1, 20 percent off bill etc xD)

Norwegian Salmon crepe :) Oh you can also choose the type of crepe you want; normal, wholemeal and sundried tomato :) I'd recommend sundried tomato, hahaha even though there isn't much of a difference in taste

My fav Yum Yum Mushroom crepeeee

Look at the fresh assorted mushrooms bound by strands of creamy cheese pouring out of this sundried tomato crepe! This may be a vegetarian dish but I think it tastes better than any other non-veg crepe xD ESP with their super awesome special tomato sauce xD

Korean BBQ Pork! Look there's even kim chi heehee

Peking Duck :) It's one of their popular crepes and it's really really good xD That's Peking Duck sauce drizzled over the crepe btw

A kinda normal crepe, grilled chicken :)

There's also Seafood Jungle crepe which I high recommend as the crepe's just bursting with scallops and prawns and stuff, and the crepe has 2 different dressings (one's some yogurtish thing :O) I couldn't really taste the crab though, though it was part of the description :X Gah, too bad I don't have a picture.

BANANANAA~~~ SPLIT waffle xD The sorbet's really refreshing and kinda sour but the chocolate ice cream was rich and great xD Custard's the kinda thing you won't easily get sick of when you have it with so many flavours! hahaha oh and the design on the plate changes depending on the chef's mood (maybe xD)

Hediard :)

A very very nice British lady gave me a box of Hediard one day. The packaging was so pretty, I couldn't bear to open the box. Hahaha so I took a few pictures of it and kept the signature red-black striped ribbon as a souvenir xD

I thought it was chocolate at first haha as it felt and looked so much like a box of pralines! Apparently the House of Hediard is famous for several foods; chocolate, sweets, tea, coffee, wine and spices. Paraphrasing from its website, Hediard is a famous luxury foods brand by Ferdinand Hediard and it reserves the best crops from producers from France and other countries :O

TADAAAAAA :D

These sweets were cooked in pans! The fruit flavours are incredible and just burst in your mouth :D:D They're kinda like gummies coated in sugar, but very much fruitier and less chewy. Hmm it's almost like eating chocolate as in you can easily bite off a piece but it's more sticky xD Actually it kinda reminds me of fruitips, but the flavours taste more natural and it's less sugary :D High class fruitips hahahaha.

Here's how fruitips blackcurrent looks like just in case you can't rmr!

Oh and btw, you can get Hediard in Singapore! It's a cafe-boutique at Tudor Court in the Tanglin area xD

Vegan Burg

Vegan Burg is a shophouse just a few metres from Eunos mrt station. Just turn left and walk all the way till you see it across the road :) They make the healthiest burgers I've ever eaten; non greasy, meatless patties on a bed of lettuce and alfafa sprouts served between fresh ciabatta/wholegrain bread! Peeps, just lay off the Macs and Mos and indulge in healthier, fresher, rottenable (I know that's not a word, but some junk food really contain toooo much preservatives XP ), guilt-free (in more ways than one:)) burgers that are good for your soul! They have an assortment of organic burgers, from hawaiian to bbq to satay-ish and the patties are all different but vegan (made of mushrooms/beans/tofu...)! Even their drinks are kinda healthy fruity stuff, not super sweet soda. Plus, if you're feeling lazy, you can always give them a ring @ 6844 6868 and they'll deliver to your doorstep :D

Love the caption on the wall xD

One of their awesome burgers together with kind healthy seaweed fries :) Hahaha I know fries can't ever be healthy but these are definitely less oily and less salty than the usual!

Potato-spinach pops :) basically fried potato and spinach balls which taste dam good :)

They also serve franks (sausages) made of tofu but look exactly like the real thing!(RIGHT??!) The bbq flavour even makes them taste kinda like real chicken franks, how awesome is that. Plus the texture's practically the same, rubber-ish skin stuff and all xD (and at least you know you're eating tofu and not random animal parts!)

We celebrated my friend Kay's birthday there!:D

Wheeee cake cutting xD

Please check this place out! Burgers range from 4 plus to 6 plus and set meals are ~11-13 bucks. Sides are abt 3. It's quite affordable and it pays to top up a few bucks for a healthier meal anw! (just in case you're thinking of going to macs or kfc again!!) It'd be awesome if everyone could be vegetarian from time to time, just to save a few cows and chickens you know :)

A la Carte @ Sheraton Towers Hotel

The Dining Room at this hotel has seriously awesome service :) The food's very good too, though the spread's not great. The buffet dinner's one of the more affordable high quality hotel buffet dinner at around 50 bucks per person :) There's not a lot of variety but the waffle/ice jelly counter and sashimi/seafood counter with crayfish never fails to give the buffet just a little extra snazz xD I'd say their buffet's rather asian as compared to other international buffets, abt 80 %? Dinner time's rather quiet actually, even on weekends, maybe cos peeps are already hanging out in the lounge/bar which I highly recommend for their free flow condiments xD

Anw, I'll focus more on the a la carte items for now! (Complimentary super awesome garlic bread with olive oil and butter is served before the dishes :)

Lobster thermidor yummy!

Deep fried snapper in a really tasty potato crust and mango sauce

Tomato soup

Grilled chicken sandwich. Mm the meat was kinda tough...not my fav definitely

For vegetarians :) Asparagus and mushrooms which taste fantastic

hahaha from their local menu, char kway teow! There's plenty of fish cake and hum (I dunno what's its real name actually...) and stuff xD Well if you asked me is it worth it to have something here that you can find at hawker centres for 3 bucks I'd say you can't really compare cos you're paying for the ambience and everything right? but the portion's quite big and it really does taste good though, worth a shot xD

Oh and they have this cool semi-buffet concept called 'design your own dinner' where you select an appetiser and a main course from the a la carte menu and you get to enjoy the dessert buffet table as well! :D

TWG Tea Company :D

One of the best ala carte tea-time cafes:D I've only been to the branch at ION and another in Taka and both were awesome! It has a very European cafe ambience with deco and music and waiters and everything, which makes it an extremely popular place for tea :) It has like over a hundred different types of tea and flavours and each tea has an interesting history behind it :O A booklet on tea descriptions is given to guests but it's definitely quite impossible to read through every single description and history in one visit. (Unless of course you eat and read at the same time which makes having a nice tea and chat session kinda meaningless no? :)) Oh the branch at ION's super cool cos they have this super tall crescent-shaped shelf stocked with all the different kinds of teas in large tins. The ppl managing the tea counter have to get the tea from that shelf, even if it means having to climb to the very top using a ladder! :D

Most of the tea are 11 bucks (like rum tea, geisha tea...) but some are 19 (king's tea)

Normandy Apple Tart with Singapore Breakfast Tea (that's the tea's name!) ice cream and caramel coulis infused with Pomme Prestige Tea :D Super tea-ish! I dunno why the tart's a liiiitle bitter, but it was mostly masked by the sweet caramel anw :D

Great raisin scone :) a tad too small though. I think I still prefer Cedele's. If you like tiny pastries, there're also canele, madelines, financiers and muffins :)

you have to eat the scones with the whipped cream and, wait for it--- TEA JELLY! I think there's a few flavours of tea jelly. It goes amazingly well with the scones! Haha, only reason why I get scones here xD Hmmm should have bought a jar home...

Crème brûlée!!!! 2 mini ones that taste real good xD

Macaroooooons :D my sis chose the ugliest colours of the lot D: haha but I think they taste better than the pretty ones honestly! The purple one's the bestest flavour (Napoleon Tea and Caramel), seriously tastes like heaven :)

Tea shake with Vanilla Bourbon tea! Huge cup and it was extremely creamy :) The vanilla essence was super strong as well! You can choose any tea ice cream from the menu to be made into a shake xD

TWG doesn't just serve tea and tea-time stuff. They also have breakfast, lunch and dinner stuff, like crepes, sandwiches and main course! Everything looks super good but kinda expensive :X I do think the set meals are really well crafted and sound super appetising hahaha gosh, talking abt it makes me want to try!:D
